Four Kaizer Chiefs players have been selected for the Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming two friendly games. The announcement was made by interim coach Owen da Gama this morning.

Goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune and defenders Erick Mathoho, Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Lorenzo Gordinho are called up to play in two friendly internationals against Guinea-Bissau on Saturday, 25 March, and against Angola on Tuesday, 28 March.

Khune has been a regular between the poles for Bafana Bafana with 75 caps to his name. Erick Mathoho has been a prominent member of the squad with 26 caps. Mphahlele has recently started to cement his place in the national team with six caps.

For the 22-year-old Gordinho, this is a maiden call up to the Bafana Bafana set up.

The squad:

Goalkeepers: Khune, Keet, Walters.

Defenders: Mphahlele, Coetzee, Hlatshwayo, Mathoho, Gordinho, Thopola, Langerman

Midfielders: Kekana, Mnyamane, Dolly, Jali, Mokotjo, Mabunda, Furman, Zwane, Serero

Forwards: Tau, Manyama, Mahlambi, Weldwijk, Erasmus, Singh.

The players will report for the Bafana Bafana camp on Sunday, 19 March, a day after Kaizer Chiefs’ encounter against Baroka FC in Polokwane.

The called up players are expected back at the club on Wednesday, 29 March, three days before Amakhosi’s titanic battle against Mamelodi Sundowns at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, 1 April.
