Kaizer Chiefs would like to assure the soccer loving fraternity that the CAF Champions League game against the Mozambique’s Liga Muçulmana de Maputo (LDMM) on 1 March 2014 was actually never scheduled to be played at the FNB Stadium.

Kaizer Chiefs held discussions as early as the middle of last year with the company managing the FNB Stadium, Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA) regarding the 2014 calendar and event schedule of the FNB Stadium, as far as the possible impact on the schedules of the 2014 CAF matches.During the mid-2013 discussions SMSA made their intentions clear in terms of making the stadium available for Kaizer Chiefs FC’s matches in the CAF competition.

Unfortunately the confirmation on the first three rounds of the CAF competition was only received on 17 December 2013 at a stage when SMSA had already booked 1 March 2014 for the Santana Concert, for which the contract as already signed in 2013.

SMSA re-affirmed its commitment to support the Club with their CAF campaign.

As such the game scheduled to be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on 1 March 2014 was not at any stage confirmed to be played at the FNB Stadium.
