Just over hundred (100) vociferous fans gave the Glamour Boys a boisterous welcome as they landed at Port Elizabeth Airport in the Nelson Mandela Metro on Tuesday afternoon.

Chiefs, who beat Tottenham Hotspurs on Saturday at Peter Mokaba, will take on Orlando Pirates at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Thursday, kick-off at 20:15.

Supporters Relations Manager, Cecil Motaung described the welcoming to kaizerchiefs.com as ‘touching’.

“It has been a while now since we started with these kinds of welcoming but every time the team touches down it feels like the first time. I was really touched today and the players also appreciated the gesture from our supporters. I would like to thank each and every one of them who came through to welcome us here at the airport,” said Chief.

Meanwhile, coach Vladimir Vermezovic took the squad through their paces at Nelson Mandela University on Tuesday afternoon in preparation for the potentially explosive game between the two Soweto rivals. The winner of the game will get a second bite on Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, 23 July at Coca Cola Park, Johannesburg.

The training, which was open to the public, saw students from the university and kids from Erica House Combined School led by their Head Master Eugene Coetzee getting an opportunity to watch their stars live in training. It was a familiar turf for former Bay United players Arthur Bartman and Siyabulela Songwiqi, who trained on the same pitch two years ago.
