The entire Management and staff at the Village attended the function to honour a man that has served the Club with pride and passion for almost four decades.
“Bra Thami” as those who worked with him affectionately knew Mr. Myaluza leaves the post, Head of Security and Logistics, having started at the Supporters Club during the formative stages and later moved to work as a casual security officer before assuming a management role at the Club. 31st May 2010 was his official last day at the Club Headquarters.
Executive Chairman, Kaizer Motaung described “Ngwanabo” as the players called him as someone who lead “an examplelary life throughout his days at the Club”.
“This is not a day for speeches, but a day for you as colleagues to Thami to share with him. I do not see this as separation because when you have been involved in football one way or another you always come back,” said Motaung SR.
“Looking back, Thami joined us as a part-time member of staff focusing on our Supporters Club. Together with China Ngema, Thami travelled extensively throughout the country to recruit members and was often called to beef up security when it mattered.
After displaying exceptional skill in handling the growing number of supporters and the challenges around organizing them into branches, Thami was permanently recruited into the Security Department; a position that he mastered over time,” said the Executive Chairman while presenting Mr. Myaluza with a Life Time Achievement Award during the recent Club awards.
“I am proud to send him off with a clean reputation and a heavy heart that surely will lament his departure. I am thus humbled to thank him for his dedicated contribution. His inclination to do his best and to remain loyal to our cause by far raises his stature as a true Khosi 4 Life and one whose resourcefulness will be tapped when the need arises,” added the Chairman.
An emotional Myaluza first paid tribute to his wife Elizabeth, “I want to thank my wife who has stood by me for the past 56 years we have been married. It is a pity she is not by my side today but she is struggling with bad health,” he said.
“Secondly I want to thank my second Family, Kaizer Chiefs for giving me an opportunity. I am pleased to see this family grow in particular the supporters club where I started. I have no doubt that the department is in good hands and is capable of climbing the Mt. Everest.
I approached the Chairman early this year…I was very emotional knowing that I am going to leave the Club I have served so many years. I will be available to come at the Village and I am going to support my successor to ensure that he settles in well in what is a very touch job. Thank you to all of you,”
Mr. Myaluza was then asked to cut a specially designed cake with the inscription:
Goodbyes are not forever.
Goodbyes are not the end
They simply mean We will miss you
Until we meet again!
