Kaizer Chiefs had a water point at Sunday’s Nike Soweto Marathon. It was great fun with a DJ caring for some upbeat music, helping the runners to forget for a few moments that they were tired. The designated water point was at 24km in Zone 6 (Immink Drive).
“The runners voted us as one of the top water points,” enthuses Amakhosi Marketing Director Jessica Motaung, who also handed out water to the runners on the day.
More than 21,000 runners participated in this year’s Nike Soweto Marathon. Ethiopian runner Sintayehi Yinesu won the men's 42km race, followed by Lesotho’s Motlokoa Nkhabutlak in second place. The women’s race was won Ethiopian Meseret Biru.
One Chiefs supporter, who passed the stand while running, enthusiastically commented: "I am impressed with your stand at the Soweto marathon! Our Club is in all aspects a trendsetter!”
