Chiefs were on the offensive from the word go and rattled the net after only three minutes.
Jabulani Mendu was given a run and displayed a performance with his sublime touches. He had a hand in the opening goal as he slipped the ball to defender Patrick Mabedi. The Malawian sent a volley into the far right to Sbusiso Dlamini and the Swazi international laid it through to David Radebe who made no mistake as he put Amakhosi in the lead.
Mendu could have added his name to the score sheet on 10 minutes but his long-range rocket found Grant Johnson in a good position to tip it over for a corner.
United drew level on 26 minutes with Madigage playing a well-timed and accurate pass to speedy MacDonald Mukansi. The former Bafana Bafana star shrugged off the challenge of defender Fabian McCarthy and pushed the ball beyond Fernandez’s reach.
It was a great day of football for the locals and those watching on SS6. The moment that everyone had been waiting for finally arrived on 89 minutes as the referee was preparing to blow the final whistle. Amakhosi legend Doctor Khumalo made a rare appearance when he came on for McCarthy and Madigage, who was earlier replaced also made a return.
