Naturena, the Glamour Boys are back and gearing themselves up for what is anticipated to be one of the exciting seasons of PSL soccer. Amidst many speculations and rumours making the rounds, kaizerchiefs.com took an opportunity to speak to the Football Management and the Technical Team about their plans ahead of the new season.
Knowledge Musona?
Kaizer Chiefs is waiting for Hoffenheim FC, Musona’s German Club, to make the final decision on the future of the goal scorer.
“The situation with Musona is a special kind, as the Club is waiting for the Germans to make the final decision on the matter. We have time frames and limits to the agreement with his team. Musona and Bernard Parker’s recovery progress from injury will affect the other transfer targets. We are watching the markets and have the names of our targets but that will all depend on the finalisation of Musona. The Musona issue has an effect on our foreign player quota. Most of what is making news currently is pure speculation.” said Baxter.
According to the Medical Team, Parker is recovering well and will remain in the ‘boot’ for two more weeks and then start with his rehabilitation process that is expected to take two months.
More on transfers:
Midfielders Philani Cele and Lucky Baloyi have joined Moroka Swallows on loan deals that involved left back Levy Mokgothu making his way to the Kaizer Chiefs Village on a three year deal.
“We may loan one or two more players whom we believe, just like Cele and Baloyi, will need game time in the next season.” said Baxter.
Promotions?
“The spaces left in the squad have allowed us to bring on three promising youngsters from our Development to the first team. Chris Matombo, Hendrick Ekstein and Zitha Macheke are already in training with the first team and we will be monitoring their integration accordingly.” said Baxter.
Football Manager Bobby Motaung confirmed more player movement plans.
“We will make more announcements as time goes on. There will be in and out movements of players at the Village, some coming to sign and some coming for trials. We are avoiding to give the public half-baked news and we will be revealing some of the names when the time is right. We are appealing for patience from our supporters and assure them that we are working tirelessly to refresh the squad ahead of the anticipated tough season.” said Motaung.
Motaung revealed some of their preseason preparations will involve a mini camp in Durban from 3rd July and another camp in Port Elizabeth from the 11th of July before the much anticipated Carling Black Label Cup which takes place on the 26th of July.
