Keabetswe, an analyst with Roche Pharmaceutical Company in Johannesburg arrived in high spirits on Wednesday morning for the fitness training with the first team players who could not travel to Rustenburg for the clash against Platinum Stars.

“I feel nervous. I cannot believe what is about to happen, me training with the team…,” he told kaizerchiefs.com nervously as time for the training session approached.

Having signed an indemnity form with Media Relations Officer, Luthando Zibeko, Keabetswe went off to collect his kit from Assistant Kit Manager, Mingi Motaung.

“I have not been training since injuring my finger during the Vodacom Challenge Final when we beat Manchester City. I fell while I was celebrating at Loftus,” he revealed.

Keabetswe found his ‘new teammates’ already sweating it out at training and was punished for coming late with captain, Jimmy Tau pouring water over his head as part of ‘welcoming the new member in the Kaizer Chiefs Family,”

It was going to be a very long day for the Kaizer Chiefs die-hard supporter who was at the end of the fitness trainers’ sprinting drills. At some stage, Keabetswe wanted to give up but Itumeleng Khune who was next to him encouraged him to ‘soldier on’.

The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper expressed his excitement to have a supporter training with the team, “We are honoured to have had you training with us today. It is very important for all of our supporters to know that we work very hard and we would never go to the field to lose the game. Chiefs are a huge Club and we are aware that you expect results even when we play friendly games. We are going to continue working hard and make sure that we put smiles on your face this season,” said Khune.

Keabetswe, who could hardly stand after the session, had a word or two with the players, “I have learnt a lot today and I never knew that you guys work so hard every day and sometimes twice a day. To bridge the gap between fans and the players is a good idea. The guys were all great, Josta Dladla, Itumeleng (Khune), Punch (Masenamela)…thank you again to all of you. See you in Bloemfontein,” concluded Keabetswe with a smile.

I travel to all the games including Cape Town and Port Elizabeth to watch you play. Please continue giving your best for the team. We love you,” said the emotional Keabetswe.

“I am delighted to have been given this opportunity to come here in the backdrop of what happened in Cape Town against Ajax Cape Town. I will be sending the message to the fans in making sure that such incidents do not happen at our stadiums.
