Two of The Amakhosi’s ABSA Premiership matches that are affected by the changes are Chiefs visit to Durban in early December where they will face Amazulu, in what will be their fourth consecutive league game in the coastal city.
The Amakhosi as a result of the Telkom Knockout Cup Final, which which will be played on Saturday the 1st December, have had their match against the Usuthu, originally scheduled for Sunday 2nd December postponed to Wednesday December the 5th.
The match will take place at the ABSA Stadium and kick off for the game is scheduled for 19h30, the last meeting between Chiefs and the Usuthu in a league game was on the 3rd March this year.
As a result another of The Amakhosi’s league games has had to be postponed by 48 hours, as Chiefs and Santos will no longer face each other on Friday 7th December instead the game will be played on Sunday December 9th and kick off for which will be at 17h30 at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.
This game will be Chiefs first competitive match in the Mother City since the 15th March 2006, when The Amakhosi defeated Santos 3-1 in a PSL match at the Newlands Rugby Stadium.
Last season Ajax Cape Town and their City rivals Santos made history when they both hosted Chiefs far away from Cape Town, as Ajax took their game to Kimberley and Santos hosted Chiefs in Port Elizabeth. The 2006 - 2007 season was the first since the inception of the PSL in 1996 that The Amakhosi did not play an official league and cup game in Cape Town or the Western Cape for that matter.
