Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they welcome Maritzburg United in what promises to be a thrilling Absa Premiership encounter taking place at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 14 September 2013.

The Absa Premiership champions have won one, drawn one and lost one game in the league this season but are yet to lose a league game at FNB Stadium since March 2012.

The Glamour Boys go to the encounter against Maritzburg United after the strikers Knowledge Musona and Bernard Parker scored for their respective countries when Bafana Bafana lost to Zimbabwe 1-2 at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday.

Head Coach, Stuart Baxter was pleased with the form of his strikers; “The goal Knowledge (Musona) scored against Bafana on Tuesday will do his confidence a whole lot of good. He was also among the scorers on Sunday when we had a friendly match against Mpumalanga Black Aces. Bernard Parker also scored a beautiful goal against Zimbabwe having grabbed a brace last Saturday against Botswana.

We are pleased with the performance of all the players who played in the past week for their respective national teams and that all of them came back with no injury concerns.

Preparations for the game have gone very well. We had a friendly on Sunday against Mpumalanga Black Aces where we were able to look at some players and different combinations.

I do not feel we have had a bad start as the team but certainly we will be looking to comeback following our defeat away to SuperSport United. The players are aware that the league is going to be tougher this season. Teams have strengthened their squads and also brought in new coaches. This requires us to work twice as hard.

The game against Maritzburg United will be a tricky tie. They have given us problems in the past but in football the past belongs to archives. We will have to go out there and do our best to make sure that maximum points remain in Johannesburg.

Meanwhile Communications Manager, Vina Maphosa urged the fans to continue buying tickets for the upcoming game; “We are back again at our home, FNB Stadium, this weekend and we once again call on the Amakhosi faithful to come in numbers to the game. We drew both games against Maritzburg United last season and this time we will need to put matters into perspective.

Tickets are selling for R40 at Shoprite/Checkers including Computicket nationwide. We are pleased with the positive messages our fans have sent to the Club through our media properties showing support to both the players and the Technical Team,” added Maphosa.

Kickoff for the game on Saturday is billed for 20h15 kickoff.

The Club in conjunction with main sponsors, Vodacom will be activating in form of a roadshow and the details are as follows:
