Naturena, Sunday, 17 August 2014, Kaizer Chiefs welcome Bloemfontein Celtic in their third game of the 2014/15 Absa Premiership season.
It will be The Glamour Boys’ first in the league fixture at home, FNB Stadium.
The much anticipated clash follows The Glamour Boys’ two wins in the row in the league, all two wins coming away from home.
The Glamour Boys have also advanced in to the semifinals of the MTN 8 by drubbing MP Black Aces in the quarterfinals by a 4 - 0 scoreline, and have a 0 - 2 aggregate lead going to the 2nd leg of the semis next weekend.
We are not only winning games since the start of the season,we are dishing out a fine display of football. We fire on all cylinders with five different players appearing in the scoresheet in the four games played so far, Masango, Maluleka, Letsholonyane and Lebese as chief tormentors. Masango, Letsholonyane, Masilela and Maluleka have been awarded the Man of the Match with their performance in the opening four games of the season.
Chiefs are looking at Inpiring Greatness this season as Marketing Manager Jessica Motaung said.
“The Club would be asking supporters to ‘Inspire Greatness’ in all they do. You remember the Reclaiming the Glory campaign(Chiefs won League and Cup double in 2012/13 season) and how we all got behind the team? Well, this season, we will be asking you to Inspire Greatness in others and within yourselves! Most importantly, we are looking to more of our supporters filling up the stadium to encourage the Team to do well. ”
Coach Stuart Baxter said, “The game against Celtic comes at a time when we are faced with a tight schedule early in the season. We are currently playing back to back games in the league and cup. We will field a competitive side on Tuesday especially that we will be playing in our own backyard. We would like to protect our territory. The players are competing for the starting line-up and that is good for the Team. We have missed the services of ‘Shabba’ (Tshabalala), Parker and Rusike but the other lads have come in and plugged in the gabs superbly.”
Team Captain and South Africa’s finest, Khune called on all the Amakhosi faithful to come in their numbers to support his team.
“We are looking forward to the game against Celtic. It is our first league game at home. We started the season well and we plan to keep the momentum.
The mood in the camp is great and all the players are working hard and competing for places in the starting line-up. We wish to see the Love and Peace supporters filling up the stadium and that will instill confidence in the team and will make the visitors uncomfortable.”
The Amakhosi have injected a number of new Glamour Boys in their squad. Siphelele Mthembu, Levy Mokgothu, Phakamani Mngadi, Ovidy Karuru and the three newly promoted Hendrick Ekstein, Zitha Macheke and Chris Matombo are gelling nicely in the team and will be waiting for their chance to be regulars in the team. Karuru is still waiting for his work permit and will not available for selection on Tuesday.
