English striker James Keene is presently training with Kaizer Chiefs. “He’s looking sharp in training,” coach Stuart Baxter comments. “He’s a hustler with good footwork. James is the kind of striker we don’t have at the moment.”
The 29-year-old Keene went through the development ranks at English outfit Portsmouth, even playing a few games for the first team. However, the striker spent most of his career in Sweden, playing for IF Elfsborg between 2007 and 2013, although he was out on loan as well during the latter stages of his stay at the club.
Most recently, Keene played for NorthEast United in the Indian Super League. The striker is out of a contract, which means that he could potentially immediately join the squad for the last part of the season.
A final decision, however, has not been taken on signing the striker.
