Sthembiso Ngcobo has admitted that the players are hurting after they were knocked out by Platinum Stars in the Telkom Knockout on Sunday.

Ngcobo, who is in his second season with the Club, was a hero in the same competition last season when he scored a brace in the final. His goal on Sunday brought the Glamour Boys to level terms before Thuso Phala scored a winner for Stars in the extra time.

“It hurts that we will not be defending the Telkom KO and I am sure it is like that for everyone associated with the team. Our aim was to defend the cup and be the first to defend it twice. Stars gave us problems at Royal Bafokeng on Sunday and it is now up to us to respond to the defeat."

The Glamour Boys welcome Platinum Stars at Peter Mokaba Stadium this coming Saturday. “We need to turn the tables this time around. It is important that we take it one game at a time in the league. If we keep on winning anything is possible.

“We are second on the log but we all know that the league is a marathon."

Ngcobo scored his first goal this season and told kaizerchiefs.com that the goal is going to help his confidence. “I have been getting some game time and I was happy to open my account for the season against Platinum. The goal has brought confidence in me and I hope to score more goals to help the team this season."
