The Amakhosi will be looking to maintain their winning streak when they welcome SuperSport United on Wednesday, 5th February 2014, at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Chiefs will be making a welcome return to their alternative home base, in Polokwane. The last time the Amakhosi played a league game at Peter Mokaba Stadium is when they sealed their first league crown in seven seasons as they drew 1-1 with SuperSport United during the 2012/13 PSL Season at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on 15th May 2013.
A large crowd is expected on Wednesday as the fans have been waiting patiently for the Glamour Boys to return to Polokwane. With the Amakhosi on song and 'Matsantsa a Pitori' breathing on their necks, the clash has got all the ingredients to produce fireworks. The two teams have won their last games, Chiefs walloped Moroka Swallows 2 - 0 while SuperSport beat the University of Pretoria by 1 - 0.
Chiefs are currently occupying the top position on the log with 36 points while SuperSport tail Chiefs with 26 points and have both played 16 games. To add spice to this epic clash, this fixture pits the two sides that will be representing South Africa in 2014 CAF competitions this year. Chiefs will participate in CAF Champions League while SuperSport will play in CAF Confederations Cup.
It remains to be seen if SuperSport United will be able to stop the Amakhosi's winning streak and whether Chiefs will turn the tables after SuperSport handed them their first loss in the league this season. SuperSport upset Chiefs by 3 - 1 in August 2013 in the game that was played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. The defeat early in the season had pundits scribbling Chiefs as an unlikely defender of their Championship.
Chiefs go into the game against SuperSport with a Team record of 8 wins in a row and 5 away wins in a row since the start of the PSL.
“With the game squeezed and coming thick and fast we will determine our readiness until the last minutes of our preparations. We will give SuperSport United the respect they deserve on the field of play. More so, they beat us in the first round of the league. There will also be added motivation of both teams needing the three points. We are monitoring several players like Parker, Masilela and Nkhatha who suffer from a niggling assortment of injuries,” commented Baxter ahead of the trip to Limpopo.
Tickets for the game are available at Computicket and Checkers/Shoprite nationwide at R40. Gates open at 17:00 and kickoff is at 19:30.

January 2014 Window Period
"The 24-year-old midfielder George Maluleka from SuperSport United signed a three-and-half-year contract. Katlego Mphela joined us on a loan deal from 31 January 2014 to 30 June 2014 whereupon his two-year deal signed on a pre-contract will resume on the 1st July 2014," confirmed Football Manager Bobby Motaung.
"We are happy with arrival of the two players. As we have said before bolstering and refreshing the Team is a continuous process at Chiefs. There are other players that we were eyeing but unfortunately we could not secure their signatures. We will continue to monitor the market in terms of the needs of the Team going forward," said Bobby Motaung.
