Kaizer Chiefs received with sadness the news of the passing on of Gogo Elizabeth Maloka at the age of 113. The late Gogo Elizabeth, as she was affectionately known, was an ardent Chiefs supporter, described by most as Chiefs’ oldest and most loyal supporter.

Gogo Elizabeth’s granddaughter, Stoby Maloka told kaizerchiefs.com that the family is still in a state of shock and disbelief,”Gogo was the pillar in our family. We are reeling with shock. As the family we are still coming to terms with this setback. We have been receiving messages of support from many quarters and we hope that will carry us through this period of mourning the loss of our beloved GogoElizabeth.”

Sasolburg Supporters Branch Chairperson Sello Mabe lamented the loss of the 113 year old Gogo Elizabeth Maloka who passed on peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, 11 January 2014,”We are still shocked by the news of Gogo Elizabeth passing on. She loved Chiefs with all her heart. She would pass her best wishes to Team before each and every game. She followed the Chiefs fixtures and the results very closely. She spoke fondly about the Chairman Kaizer Motaung as she followed Kaizer Motaung’s football career from the early age. We have lost a legend faithful and we will continue to carry the gold and black flag in her memory,” said Mabe.

The Executive Chairman Kaizer Motaung reacted with sadness to the news, “We have learned with sadness about the loss of Gogo Elizabeth Maloka. We will remember herexceedingly not only as a Chiefs supporter but as someone who personified longevity. Her passing on is a great loss to the Amakhosi family. As I recall back in 2009, I will never forget the smile in her face when we travelled together with other Club officials to her home in Sasolburg to celebrate her birthday. On many other occasions through the Club structures Gogo Elizabeth was recognised for her love for the Club. In 2013 she visited the Village and was presented with a Team Championship winning jersey signed by the players. Her name will forever be engraved in the history books of the Club,” said Motaung.

“At this stage we would like to send our heartfelt and deepest condolences to the bereaved family and friends. We pray with them to find solace from the mercy and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. We hope that our message of condolences will help ease their pain as pain shared is pain halved. May her soul rest in peace,” lamented Motaung.

Rest in Peace Gogo Elizabeth Maloka
