The vital goal was scored in the 44th minute by midfielder Jabulani Mendu who took advantage of a pass from David Radebe to open the score for Amakhosi.
Chiefs are now four points clear at the top of the table with a match in hand over nearest rivals Ajax Cape Town, and should be able to wrap up the league title barring a complete disaster.
Ajax were beaten 1-0 by Zulu Royals on the weekend to hand the initiative back to Chiefs in the race for the league title. Chiefs were the better side on the day, but they did receive stout opposition from the home side who are fighting for relegation, and needed to win this match to move away from the drop zone.
Both sides created their fair share of chances, but neither strike force was able to take advantage on the day.
It must be said that on the day Chiefs were not looking as sharp as they usually are, and it would seem that the hectic programme is starting to get to them.
Chiefs have lost only three times in 28 matches in all competitions, and have been by far the most consistent side in the league this season. A few weeks ago they were knocked out of the Absa Cup by Ajax, but have remained the strongest in the race for the league title.
Though Dynamos did create some chances they were never able to penetrate the strong Chiefs defence that has so far only conceded four goals in 22 matches, which is an incredible record at any level.
It was Mendu’s second goal of the season, his last effort coming against Sundowns in the Absa Cup over a month ago, and the midfielder has been consolidating a place in the Chiefs squad over the last few weeks as other players struggle.
In their next match, Chiefs will be up against Silver Stars.
