In a letter faxed to Rustenburg Local Municipality Mayoral Coordinator Abner Mathloko, Chiefs said this decision was taken for public safety reasons.
The Rustenburg Municipality has responded positively saying Amakhosi's concerns will be addressed and that they (Rustenburg Municipality) would use the next two weeks to make necessary renovations at the stadium.
Amakhosi take on Vodacom League side Sporting on March 22 and the game will be played at Ellis Park. Chiefs have two remaining home matches against Black Leopards on April 5 and Manning Rangers on May 3.

Dear Mr Mathloko,
RE: OLYMPIA PARK STADIUM
It is with regret that I hereby inform you that Kaizer Chiefs will not be playing the balance of their home fixtures at the above-mentioned stadium.
For the sake of public safety mainly due to the points that we have highlighted in previous correspondence and meetings we have had with you, we have come to this decision.
To date three people have already suffered serious injuries and we will not wait for another tragedy to happen.
Until such time that the stadium is fixed and the relevant quandary is resolved we will not be making use of the Olympia Park Stadium.
We look forward to sitting down with you in the new season to renegotiate our tenure once the relevant improvements to the stadium have been made.
Yours faithfully
THAMI MYALUZA
Operations Manager
