Chiefs not guilty in McCarthy case

Kaizer Chiefs were vindicated by the Premier Soccer League DC on Tuesday following a complaints by Sundowns that defender Fabian McCarthy was improperly registered.

Sundowns - who alleged that McCarthy was still their books and not free to join Chiefs at the time - requested a postponement last week, which was granted. The PSL DC decided last night (Tuesday) that the Sundowns case was baseless as Chiefs had followed the right channels in signing McCarthy.

"We knew all along that we were not guilty as we did everything by the book,” said team manager Bobby Motaung. "It is very unfortunate for Sundowns and this ruling has actually exposed their own weaknesses."

Motaung said the PSL DC would reconvene next Tuesday for further details on the outcome of this case. "We run a professional business here and not some fish and chips store. We would have never fielded Fabian if he was not properly registered."
