Kaizer Chiefs will play against Bloemfontein Celtic in the annual Macufe Cup on Sunday, 13 October 2013 at the Free State Stadium.
The Macufe Cup has become a platform for players to express their flair, class, skill and a high goal scoring affair betweenKaizer Chiefs and Bloemfontein Celtic.
Marketing Director Jessica Motaung has expressed delight at Chiefs’s participation in Macufe; “We are happy to be part of Macufe once more. The spirit of celebrating the cultural festivities and the arts align well with Chiefs. We would like to be associated with arts and culture and as a growing football brand we are playing in the lifestyle space, and we think Macufe is the right platform to be associated with. It is about brand positioning while entertaining the revelers at Macufe.”
Football Manager Bobby Motaung commented; “Macufe is an opportunity for our players to play in a competitive match during the Fifa week. It is good for the players because they have an opportunity to express themselves as we have witnessed a high scoring rate in the past. The coach will use the platform to sample different combinations. Last year Tsepo Masilela made his debut at the Macufe and depending on the Coach, maybe the fans will see Ivan Bukenya for the first in this game.”
Winners in 2012, Bloemfontein Celtic will be looking to defend their title and Kaizer Chiefs will be on a mission to reclaim this honour that will further cement their dominance of the Macufe Cup. Celtics beat Chiefs 4-3 in 2012 to be crowned Macufe Cup Champs for the 3rd time since its inception in 2004.
