Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium
The Amakhosi will take on the PSL’s newly promoted and returnees Chippa United in a friendly match on Sunday, 20th of July 2014.
The Amakhosi are in camp in Port Elizabeth as part of their preparations for the upcoming season. The game will take place at the 48,000 capacity Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. The game takes place two days after Mandela Day, the annual international day in honour of the late icon, Nelson Mandela. The day is celebrated each year on the date of his birthday, July 18. PE is in Nelson Mandela's home province, hence the stadium name.
The Amakhosi in partnership with their main sponsor, Vodacom, will take some time off from the training pitch to engage in volunteering and community service during Mandela Day.
For the Amakhosi the game will serve as a dress rehearsal for the Carling Black Label Cup Derby game taking place on the 26th at FNB Stadium while for Chippa this will be their reintroduction to the PSL after they were relegated two seasons ago. Chippa has recently relocated from Cape Town and will be marking their first appearance in Port Elizabeth as their home.
Kickoff for the much awaited friendly clash on Sunday is billed for 15:00. Tickets are sold at Computicket outlets nationwide and at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium at R40 adults and R20 for kids.
