This followed the team’s process of suspending ten players who were discovered to have falsified their ages during registration. In taking a hard stance against the scourge of age-cheating that has tarnished the development ranks of football in South Africa, the team has since sent the boys packing by holding their parents accountable for cheating.
Putting the matter to perspective on kaizerchiefs.com on Wednesday Football Manager, Bobby Motaung explained that; “The Youth Academy has not been shut down as reported elsewhere,”
“We are still committed in developing players that will go on and represent the country at the highest level as we have done over the years. The likes of Itumeleng Khune and many others were developed at our youth academy and that will continue,” said Motaung.
