Kaizer Chiefs kick off the 2025/26 season with a demanding, yet exciting, schedule that features five Betway Premiership matches between 10 August and 30 August.

Amakhosi will start their new campaign this coming Sunday with an away clash against Stellenbosch FC in Cape Town. Following that, the team have three home matches: Polokwane City on 13 August, Richards Bay on 19 August, and Mamelodi Sundowns on 27 August, all taking place at FNB Stadium. The team will wrap up Women’s Month 2025 with an away game against Lamontville Golden Arrows, in Durban on 30 August.

“It is crucial for us to start strongly, as the games will come thick and fast this season due to the AFCON break, in December, and next year being a World Cup year. Additionally, we’ll be participating in the CAF Confederation Cup, meaning our schedule will be tight and busy,” Kaizer Chiefs’ Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr. states.

Chiefs have thus far welcomed six new players to the squad, Thabiso Monyane, Ethan Chislett, Paseka Mako, Flavio Silva, Siphesihle Ndlovu and Nkanyiso Shinga, each of whom are expected to make a significant impact this season.

“We believe we have reinforced key areas within the squad, but we know that recruitment is an ongoing process,” he adds.

Regarding the opening five matches, the Sporting Director emphasised that the goal is to secure as many points as possible to kick-start the season and establish a strong position before the CAF Confederation Cup campaign gets underway in September.

“We are very happy to be back in one of CAF’s prestigious competitions. We aim to build on our successful run in 2021 that saw us go all the way to the finals of the CAF Champions League in 2021 against Al Ahly in Morocco,” Motaung says, “When we went to the Netherlands for our preseason, our primary focus was to work on getting the team fully ready for this season. Playing some of the top Dutch teams, including FC Twente, and then coming back to participate in the preseason Toyota Cup against Asante Kotoko, who have also qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup, was a strategic move for us as we prepared for 2025/26.

“We have also played against PSL opposition behind closed doors as we needed to ensure the requisite readiness for the guys going into this first weekend of the new league campaign,” he explains.

The game against Stellenbosch takes place at the Athlone Stadium this coming Sunday, kicking off at 17:30 and Khosi nation in the Western Cape are encouraged to come out in numbers and get behind the team. Tickets for the match are available through Webtickets or Pick ‘n Pay Supermarkets at R80.

“Our supporters are very important to us and continue to be the driving force. As we embark on the new journey this season, we are looking at adding to the Nedbank Cup that we collected at the end of last season. We ask Amakhosi to continue to rally behind the team, home and away, and we will try and do our best to make them happy by winning matches and eventually bringing more silverware to Naturena,” Motaung concludes.
