These were the words of Kaizer Chiefs defender, Thabang Rooi after training on Tuesday.
The Vaal born defender has been on top form for Amakhosi and was on the score sheet last Sunday against Bay United.
“We want to finish as high as possible - so the game against Stars presents us with an opportunity to bounce back following our defeat against Santos and draw at home against Bay United,” he said.
“Free State Stars will be very tough away from home. They seem to have regained their form as they won last weekend (Stars beat Thanda Royal Zulu by 3-2 last weekend). We all know that clubs double their efforts when they come up against Kaizer Chiefs. No one out there is going to make us any favours...we need to go out and fight for the three points.
It is important that we keep our head up and those who have written us off this season - they are doing that at their peril,” he warned.
Rooi scored the equaliser on Sunday after Bay United had surprised the Glamour Boys, scoring two quick goals.
“It was a good feeling to score,” he said revealing that the goal against Bay United was his first in professional ranks since making his debut for Tembisa Classic in 2003.
“The Technical Team always encourages us to go forward and it worked on Sunday. My first priority though remains defending - but if the chance arises to add more goals then I will grab it,” he added with a smile.
The Glamour Boys will fancy their chances to win this one having lost only one against Free State Stars in 16 meetings. The last time the two met in March, Chiefs were in an uncompromising mood handing Free State Stars a 4-1 drubbing.
