Kaizer Chiefs dropped to second place on the Absa Premiership standings when they went down 1-0 to Mpumalanga Black Aces at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.

Both sides had opportunities throughout the match, but it was AmaZayoni who stole the three points at the death with substitute Miguel Timm finding the back of the net.

Chiefs dominated the early exchanges and fired the first shot in the 5th minute when George Lebese found Siphiwe Tshabalala outside the box, but his strike flew over the crossbar.

The roles were reversed in the 14th minute as Tshabalala found Lebese on the left side of the box following a quick attack, but his solid strike was kept out by Jackson Mabokgwane.

Mabokgwane was called into action again in the 21st minute as he had to dive quickly to his right to keep out a dipping freekick from Parker.

Eight minutes later Lebese knocked the ball down for Parker just outside the box on the left, but his powerful strike sailed just wide of the far post.

Aces had an even better chance at the other end a few second later when Abia Nale squared the ball for Tendai Ndoro on the edge of the area, but his first-time shot curled just wide of goal.

Parker then made a good run to meet an inswinging corner from Tshabalala at the near post in the 41st minute, only to send his header over the crossbar.

Aces appealed for a penalty two minutes later when Ndoro went down under a challenge from Willard Katsande inside the box, but the referee waved play on as the match remained scoreless at the break.

Amakhosi continued to look dangerous from setpieces and Kingston Nkhatha should have done better in the 48th minute when a freekick from Parker found him unmarked at the far post, but his header went wide of the target.

Parker had a great opportunity to break the deadlock in the 62nd minute when he made a great run to meet a cross from Siboniso Gaxa, only to sidefoot the ball straight at Mabokgwane.

Nine minutes later Katlego Mphela cut the ball back towards the far post, but somehow Parker blazed his effort over the crossbar with the goalkeeper out of the equation.

The hosts were made to pay for their missed chances in the fourth minute of added time when Nale released Timm on the left side of the box, who then nudged the ball past Khune and into the far post.

Amakhosi had one last chance to snatch a point four minutes later when Tshabalala’s freekick found Mphela at the near post, but his header flew just wide of goal.
