Kaizer Chiefs Reserves could not turn over their massive 67% ball possession into a win over an enthusiastic Polokwane City Reserves on Monday Afternoon. It was the Limpopo based side that bagged the three points at the end of the It’s Massive festival of matches that took place on the Day of Reconciliation at the Kabokweni Stadium.
Chiefs Reserves went to Mpumalanga buoyant by three games of unbeaten run under their belt.
It was no surprise when coach Arthur Zwane’s charges dominated the proceedings but only lady luck was not one their side on the day. Chiefs Reserves raided the City Reserves’ goal area but only managed 3 shots on target from 11 attempts, including 8 corner kicks.
Chiefs Reserves almost grabbed the lead in the 22nd minute, but Lebohang Lesako’s tap in shaved the upright. Khumbulani Ncube unfortunately misjudged a clearance on the box allowing Podile to make it 1-0 in the 31st minute of the end to end match. Chiefs Reserves piled the pressure and threw everything on attack in search of an equaliser. Kamohelo Hoala missed a fat chance to level matters in the 77th minute.
Chiefs Reserves continued to push forward until the Kabokweni Stadium was silenced when they were caught on a counterattack. Mosiki pulled the plug in the 85th minute with an easy tap in to give the Limpopo side a 2-0 victory.
