“It gave us an opportunity to bond as a Team,” says Tefu Mashamaite upon arrival at the Chiefs Village on Monday afternoon. The Team arrived from a week long training camp in Stellenbosch, Cape Town.

“We had an opportunity to refresh the aims and objectives we set out for the season,” adds Masha. “The camp also gave us a chance to gather our thoughts after a protracted midseason break. We will see on the pitch of play how we respond to the break. We are ready, and we have to be ready,”

“I am happy I scored the solitary winner in our practice match,” says Hendrick Ekstein. “It was my first time in Cape Town and scoring the goal against Milano FC in the practice match will boost my confidence,” Ekstein. “The camp was what ‘The Doctor Ordered’ in my case because I was able to interact with our senior players; they gave me some survival tips as a professional player for a top team.”

“We are revitalised. We got back our sense of working hard. We prepared well. It was good as a Team to spend time together after the break,” says Tsepo Masilela.

“The camp was hard work as usual. We learned a lot. And watching German Bundesliga as a team we saw the danger of the midseason break.” Morgan Gold was referring to German Bundesliga log leaders Bayern Munich losing to 1 – 4 Wolfsburg. “We do not want to fall in the same trap,” says Gould.

Kaizer Chiefs went into the break as the PSL runaway log leaders and will be looking at maintaining the momentum when the 2014/15 league programme resumes with a trip to the Free State Stadium next week. Chiefs will play against Bloemfontein Celtic in the Absa Premiership fixture on Wednesday, 11 February. Kickoff is at 19:30.
