Nkosinathi Nhleko and Reneilwe Letsholonyane came back to haunt their former club Cosmos as both players found back of the net to beat helpless Cosmos by 2-1 at Rand Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Both teams were coming back from midweek defeat against Bloemfontein Celtic and SuperSport United respectively. It was the Glamour Boys though who got off to a flying start when striker Nkosinathi Nhleko playing against his former team fired home from a close range inside three minutes.
The Glamour Boys who had continued where they left off with their superb short passing had made only one change to the side that lost against Bloemfontein Celtic midweek with Kaizer Motaung Jr coming on for Tshepo Bulu.
Reneilwe Letsholonyane playing his best football increased Chiefs lead with a superb strike following some neat work between, Abia Nale, Kaizer Motaung Jr and Nkosinathi Nhleko, 2-0 to Chiefs inside 20 minutes.
The Glamour Boys suffered a set back in the 26th minute when Reneilwe Letsholonyane was stretched off the field following an overzealous tackle from Cosmos defender. Chiefs were down to 10 men when Thapelo Tshilo pulled one goal back for Cosmos.
The visitors were not perturbed though as they came close twice through Nkosinathi Nhleko. The burly strike first miscued Tshifiwa Mmbooi’s clever cross and missed a sitter minutes later when he was brilliantly set up by tricky Abia Nale.
Chiefs lost a second player in the game when defender, Tshifiwa Mmbooi was stretched off the field early in the second half owing to another unfortunate tackle from the hosts. Utility player, Dominic Isaacs was called on to fill the right back slot.
The woodwork denied Thapelo Tshilo a brace midway the second half as the hosts searched for an equaliser.
Abia Nale yet to score this season was denied by Avril Phali this is after the tricky winger was brilliantly set up by Dominic Isaacs.
At the 2-1 score line was enough to hand Amakhosi a well deserved victory. The 8th placed Amakhosi travel to Cape Town this coming weekend to honour a meeting against Ajax Cape Town.
