Chiefs should win it – Ryder Mofokeng

Longest serving Chiefs captain and now Development Coach, Johannes “Ryder” Mofokeng believes that the Glamour Boys should have no problem bringing the Telkom Knockout Cup home on Saturday when they meet holders, Ajax Cape Town in a potentially thrilling final at Absa Stadium.

“We have already beaten Ajax Cape Town twice this season in the league and now the pressure is on them,” said Mofokeng with confidence.

“It is important that the guys continue with the performance they dished out since the start of the competition. I was always confident going to the Pirates game that we were going to beat them. The guys have done very well despite the absence of trio, Itumeleng Khune, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Reneilwe Letsholonyane who were in camp with Bafana Bafana.

One area that worries me is upfront. We seem to create lot of chances but we do not finish them. The game against Orlando Pirates should not have gone to penalties as we clearly dominated proceedings but I am sure this will not be the case on Saturday and the boys should continue with the tradition of the Club to bring the trophy to Naturena” continued Mofokeng popularly known at the Village as “Skipper”.

The former right back also paid a glowing tribute to the rejuvenated Mthokozisi Yende who was instrumental in the wins against Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, “He has suddenly come out of his shell. Credit should go to the technical team for being patient with him…I believe he has a lot to offer in the near future,” he added.

Kick off for the final is at 20h15.
