“Ryan is one for the future,” comments coach Steve Komphela about the newly signed 19-year-old striker Ryan Moon. “He will give us options as a striker and on the flanks.”

The Pietermaritzburg-born Moon arrived at the Amakhosi camp from Maritzburg United.

Komphela continues: “He played a few games for Maritzburg towards the end of last season and watching his play, he ticks all the boxes. He has strong qualities and with proper integration into the Chiefs way, he will bring value to the team.”

“I am excited and over the moon to be joining a big club like Chiefs,” reacts ‘Moonaldo’ Moon (jersey number 29). “I am honoured to be part of this exciting brand. The facilities here are amazing and this will help take my game to the next level.”

The Amakhosi also announced the promotion of another youngster, central defender Siyabonga ‘Magwegwe’ Ngezana. The 19-year-old follows the promotion of another youngster from Chiefs’ Youth Development, striker Emmanuel Letlotlo. “Siya is a product of our development structures,” explains coach Komphela. “We are happy with his progress and we are bringing him to the first team to feel the exact pressure. He is strong and has a good chance to develop into a fine player.”

“I am happy to be given this opportunity,” says the lanky Sebokeng-born Ngezana, who will wear jersey number 30. “I am looking forward to work hard and learn from the experienced players.”

“Our scouting network and development structures are beginning to take shape,” concludes Komphela. “We are having a number of players from our development in the senior squad.”

Itumeleng Khune, Lucky Baloyi, Hendrick Ekstein and Lorenzo Gordinho are all also products of Chiefs’ Youth Development structures.
