Kaizer Chiefs, the African Club of the Year 2002, in conjunction with Iwisa No 1, are hosting a 5–A–Side Soccer Challenge on Sunday, April 28 at Marks Park in Emmerentia.

The challenge will showcase an exhibition match between Kaizer Chiefs and the Chiefs - Legends, featuring household names of the 80’s including among others Teenage “Botsotso” Dladla, Ace Ntsoelengoe, Trevor “KKK” Mtimkhulu.

Marked as one of the significant events in the Kaizer Chiefs calendar, the challenge forms part of the club’s contribution to their mandate of good corporate citizenship.

Proceeds made from such events are donated to organisations that foster social upliftment for the underprivileged. The Takalane Home for Mentally Handicapped will be the recipients of funds made on Sunday.

"The most amazing element with the 5–A–Side is the warm family environment the tournament provides, for all our stakeholders including the media.

"Our children discover a unique way to rub shoulders with their role models while the supporters and the media an opportunity to put into practice their understanding of the game. It’s an electrifying situation and I call on all our supporters to come in the thousands,” said an excited Putco Mafani.

During the challenge 40 teams will be competing against each other allowing

Credit Guarantee to defend their title, which they won in the year 2000 during the Doctor Khumalo 5–A–Side Challenge.

The winning teams this year will be awarded R10 000 (1st prize), R5 000 (2nd prize) and R3 000 (3rd prize) to take home.

The day promises to be a fun filled day, which can be enjoyed by soccer fans and their families. Monde from YFM will be “spinning” his disks live from the venue and Alaska from Sony will ensure supporters are entertained throughout the day.

Children will also be kept busy with jumping castles and other children’s entertainment. The entrance fee will cost R5 per person and R10 per vehicle.
