Chiefs stars shine at Interactive World Cup

Kaizer Chiefs stars Bevan Fransman, Siphiwe Mkhonza and John Shoes Moshoeu were the star attractions at the South African Qualifiers for the 2005 FIFA Interactive World Cup.

The event was held in Edenvale in the Eastern Johannesburg on Saturday and was won by David Letsoloa who hails from Sydenham in Johannesburg; he will now represent South Africa at the 2005 FIFA Interactive World Finals in London on the 18th December. David for his troubles was further rewarded with a trip to next years FIFA World Cup Finals in Germany.



The day truly belonged to the Amakhosi trio of Moshoeu, Mkhonza and Fransman whose appearance took all the competitors by surprise. The players were happy to oblige to the hundreds of keen autograph hunters seeking the much sought after autographs of the Amakhosi trio.



The players signed autographs and posed for pictures for more than two hours and as Shoes Moshoeu explained they were delighted to be part of this historic occasion: “In my early years as a player going to the World Cup was a dream as the game has grown. Events like the FIFA Interactive World Cup allow people from various backgrounds to in some way experience being part of the World Cup.

"Not everyone is a great footballer but a lot of people are great fans of their teams who they support week in and week out and in this way they can feel what it is like to be coach, captain and the star player all in one and the pressure that goes with it and the satisfaction and enjoyment of scoring a goal.”



Bevan Fransman, the best of the Chiefs players at the FIFA 2006 Game, was unable to take his usual disciplined style of play with him to the cyber world as he exited the competition in the early rounds.

He has promised that he will practise harder for next years contest and will return with a vengeance.
