Amakhosi are back at the Moses Mabhida stadium for the second of their three Umcimbi waMakhosi home games hosted in Durban this season, to take on Lamontville Golden Arrows in a Betway Premiership match.
Last Wednesday, Chiefs celebrated the occasion of their 55th anniversay the previous day by beating Stellenbosch FC, 2-1, at FNB Stadium. This was after coming back from behind thanks to Wandile Duba, who scored his first brace for the senior team. The away team, Arrows, shared the spoils against AmaZulu in the Durban derby last weekend at today’s venue.
The win against the Winelands team moved the Amakhosi side up to position 5 on the Betway Premiership log, with 18 points after 12 matches. Arrows are lying 10th in the standings after picking up 15 points in their 11 games.
As they search for their second victory on the trot, Chiefs have made two enforced changes to the team, with Rushwin Dortley being replaced by Tebogo Potsane and Mfundo Vilakazi coming in for Ashley Du Preez. Both Dortley and Du Preez are out due to injury.
Coach Nasreddine Nabi will go for a 4-3-3 formation this afternoon again Arrows.
Bruce Bvuma is the goalkeeper.
Chiefs’ back four will have Bradley Cross on the left, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and Inacio Miguel at centre-back, and Njabulo Blom on the right.
Holding the midfield is Sibongiseni “Ox” Mthethwa. He will have Yusuf Maart and Mduduzi Shabalala just in front of him.
The attacking line will have Wandile Duba as the target man, with Potsane on the left of attack and Vilakazi coming in from the right wing.
Maart will captain the team.
Match officials are referee, Olani Kwinda, who will have Kgara Mokoena and Romeo Matibidi as his assistants. The fourth official is Siyabonga Nkomo.
The Betway Premiership match between Amakhosi and Abafana Bes’thende will commence at 15:30 at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. The match will be live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations - with regular updates of the match on X (Twitter) @KaizerChiefs.
