The Comoros might be the third smallest African nation by area and only have about 800 000 inhabitants, but there are numerous fanatical Kaizer Chiefs supporters.
One of them is Mohammed Ahamada (on the left on the picture), who once lived in Durban. During that period, he became an Amakhosi4Life.
He’s back in the Comoros and lives in Ansambo Village in the country’s capital Moroni, where Chiefs will face Volcan Club de Moroni on Sunday afternoon (kick-off is at 14:00, South African time).
Ahamada went to the hotel where the Amakhosi squad is based with a few friends. He couldn’t believe his eyes when he came face-to-face with Brian Baloyi, Chiefs’ goalkeeper coach. He vividly remembered Spiderman’s often brilliant performances in goal.
“To be honest, Doctor Khumalo was always my favourite,” Ahamada said about Amakhosi’s assistant-coach.
The Comorian also immediately recognised Siphiwe Tshabalala, before starting to reminiscence about Shabba’s brilliant 2010 World Cup opener for Bafana Bafana against Mexico.
“I will come to Sunday’s game with at least 40 of my friends, they are all Amakhosi,” promised Ahamada. “We will also bring vuvuzelas and drums with us. We will be supporting you!”
