Dressed in orange jump suits, the Chiefs players could easily have been mistaken for municipal employees as they set about cleaning the streets of Danville. After spending some time in Danville The Amakhosi journeyed to the CBD of Mafikeng and went about cleaning the main road, which amused a number of passing commuters.
Clean Sweep
Chiefs participation in the project which was aimed at making kids more environmentally conscious, was well appreciated by Charles Ndabeni of the North West Province Parks and Tourism Board, as he explained to kaizerchiefs.com. “We strive to go to all communities and get to help them beautify their living spaces, and getting the Chiefs players to Danville has helped us drive home the message. It makes a big difference having a Chiefs player going around with the kids and helping them pick up litter and clearing open spaces so that they can use them to play sports. In future they will want to naturally keep their streets clean”.
Fun in Orange
Thuso Phala did not wait to get started and was amongst the first Chiefs players to grab a rake and was off clearing the path. The speedy winger commented afterwards “I enjoyed getting down and helping the kids to brighten their environment. Looking at the land before and after it is cleaned is a huge difference”, in the down town area of the city Chiefs were again do a clean sweep and Itumeleng Khune was the Chief clearing officer.
