According to the Sunday newspaper's report published on April 21, Ngema, who was allegedly outraged by the players' no-show at the Market Thearte, accused the players of being ignorant of South African history and also threatened to complain about this kind of attitude to the Sports Minister, Ngconde Balfour.
Ngema, in a statement, also goes on to accuse the newspaper's reporter, Phillip Morobi, of being drunk at the time such a statement was allegedly made.
"A drunk reporter from Sunday World, Phillip Morobi, came to me (Mbongeni Ngema) and Putco Mafani and requested to have a discussion with Putco as soon as we have finished our discussion.
"In his drucken stupor, he later came to me and asked why it was important for Kaizer Chiefs to see Asinamali. I didn't want to dismiss him, I had a cordial chat with him the content of which are not in his articles, rather lies have been reported.
"I was never angry with the attendance of the players. In fact, the arrangement we had was a very informal. If I had any complaints, I would have directed them to Putco and not to a drunk reporter," said Ngema.
It is said only Gerald Sibeko, though he was late, was the only player to pitch up for the show from a group of players who had all accepted Ngema's invitation.
