Kaizer Chiefs Reserves collected maximum points when they crushed BIDvest Wits on Monday (21 January 2013) afternoon at the Eldorado Park stadium.
Itumeleng Moshobane gave Wits goalie Emille Baron and his defence tough time with his tricky manoeuvres on attack. The first half belonged to Amakhosi who pressurised Wits with Sakhile Hlongwa and Khotso Malope missing early opportunities.
Nicholas Mynhardt was introduced in the 15th minute replacing Hlongwa who carried a bout of flu going into the game. Mynhardt didn’t waste any time to torment Wits after his introduction, halftime score 0-0.
Chiefs returned from the 2nd half with more hunger visiting Emille Baron’s area regularly. After missing a clear chance in the 50th minute Itumeleng Moshobane scored a beauty after dribbling past Wits defenders including Emille Baron.
Wits attacked furiously from thereon but Brilliant Khuzwayo who was on top form frustrated their attempts and also saved a penalty from Wits’ Mukamba after Chiefs was penalised for a foul in the eighteen area.
Chiefs defender Alton Macheke was shown a red card in the 73rd minute but Chiefs continued to control the game with Andile Nqabeni searching for the second goal but Wits stood firm at the back to deny his determination.
Kaizer Chiefs reserves will be happy with the three points. Coaches Ntsie Maphike and Ace Khuse were satisfied with the display from their troops, final score 1-0 to Amakhosi featuring majority Development players.
