Absa Premiership

Kaizer Chiefs v Bloemfontein Celtic

Tuesday, 19 August 2014

Kickoff: 19:30

The players expressed their desire to play their first Absa Premiership league at home following a successful spell away from home in the league. We clinched away wins in Qwaqwa and Mbombela and we want to keep the momentum and set the winning tone in our backyard.

Captain Khune led the call to encourage the supporters to be at FNB Stadiumtonight:

“It is good to be back at home. We are all excited and looking forward to play in front of our supporters tonight. We are prepared to start on a good note as hosts in our backyard. We want to set the best record at home, hence we urge our supporters to come to the stadium in their big numbers as they always do. This game is a partnership, when the supporters are at the stadium, cheering as we are able to reciprocate with fine displays,” commented the Chiefs Skipper.

Reneilwe Letsholonyane has two goals already in the bag in all competitions this season and has made a plea to the supporters to join hands with the team at the stadium to mark the first league game of the season in style at home:

“We are making a humble plead for the supporters to come to the stadium in big numbers tonight. It always means a lot to us to play in front of the home support. Seeing the gold and black in the stands always gives us the external energy to perform on the field of play,” said ‘Yeye’.

Three of our players have been sidelined due to an assortment of injuries since the start of the season. Siphiwe Tshabalala, Matthew Rusike and Bernard Parker have not kicked the ball in official games since their return from the off-season.

Rusike said, “Injuries are part of the game. It is actually positive when you are out there watching your teammates doing a good job. We are a collective at Chiefs and we support one another as teammates. I am back in training and look forward to be back making a contribution.”

Parker commented, “It is an indescribable feeling to be out there watching your teammates from the stands wishing I could be there. The results are going our way at this stage and it is a great feeling to witness the good job the guys are doing. I am a few weeks away from returning to full fitness. We are calling on the Amakhosi faithful to come to the game and continue to show their undying love for the Club.”

The call to rally behind the team at the stadium was reinforced by ‘Shabba’, he said, “I am just happy to see the team playing well. I might not be playing, but at Chiefs the Club shares the success. I will be back in no time to compete to get back in the team.”

The Supporters Club and KC Retail Store will be operating at gate K, turnstile 18 on match day. You will be able to get and Rica your KC Mobile Starter Pack and get the Champion Jersey when you buy your most stylish and adored new Chiefs home and away kit.
