Castle Premiership league champions Kaizer Chiefs advanced to the semifinals of the SAA Supa8 when they beat Black Leopards 2-1 at Soccer City on Saturday afternoon.

Zambia's international striker Collins Mbesuma scored twice to see off the threat of Lidoda Duvha, who refused to accept defeat and forced the game into another 30 minutes of game time.

Mbesuma opened the scoring in the 45th minute to take Chiefs into the lead just before the halftime break.

The pacy Sibusiso Dlamini was a constant threat to the Amakhosi, the team he helped to their first PSL championship last season.

In the second half Dlamini continued to run at the Chiefs defence from all angles and it seemed that they could not contain their former teammate.

Nhleko scored the equaliser in the 65th minute. Dlamini set-up Mulondo Sikwivhilu whose shot was saved by Rowen Fernandez but fell to the feet of Nhleko who slotted home comfortably.

Both teams were unable to find the net during the remaining 25 minutes and the game went into extra time.

Mbesuma went on a fantastic solo run beating three defenders while running the length of the pitch and the latest striking sensation finished with aplomb as he blasted the ball past the helpless Leopards keeper Amon Phophi.

The Glamour Boys held on to their slender lead and advance to the semifinal of the Supa8 tournament.
