The Coca-Cola champions Kaizer Chiefs, advanced to the final when they narrowly beat Ajax Cape Town 1-0, in a thrilling match played at Newlands on Saturday afternoon.

Ajax must blame themselves for the loss as they missed numerous

chances to score and when they were on target ,Brian Baloyi dealt

admirably with it.

In the first minute Ajax's Brett Evans, back from injury, gave the ball away allowing Chiefs Stanton Fredericks to send a low cross in front of the goal mouth but there were no Chiefs players to take advantage.

In the tenth minute, Edzai Kasinauyo, who had an excellent

game, crossed for Nathann Paulse who's header hit the crossbar.

At the other end Jabu Pule broke through but was fouled by Anthony

Baffoe who was promptly booked.

Ajax paid the penalty in the 21st minute when they failed to cover a free kick, allowing Stanton Fredericks to score.

Chiefs almost doubled the score in the 52nd minute when

Fredericks shot was parried by Moeneeb Josephs, but he was quick to

control the ball with Pulu coming in quickly.

Ajax where far the better side in the second half but poor finishing cost them dearly.

In the 72nd minute Hendricks put over a low cross and the Ajax strikers had two attempts at scoring ,but failed.

Eight minutes later Dominic Isaacs had a chance from six meters but shot over the bar.
