The game which was moved from Bethlehem to Phutadijaba could not be played on the originally scheduled date as a first division fixture between African Warriors and Witbank Aces had first preference over the venue as they had confirmed had pre-booked the facility a while ago.
The Change
According to reports in the daily Sowetan newspaper, Free State Stars chairman Mike Mokoena was asked yesterday to change the match to Sunday 9th March by Free State MEC for sports and recreation Ace Magashule.
Acting Premier Soccer League general manager Dan Leboa added in the same report that he was aware of the fixture change and added “I have been informed by Stars that the game will now be played on March 9. I have already sent letters to all the relevant parties to inform them about the change of dates for the game between Stars and Chiefs.”
The best so far
Chiefs will be hoping that their return match against Free State Stars will yield the same kind of results that their earlier encounter did this season when the teams met on the 31st October in Rustenburg. It turned out to be Chiefs night as they were rampant winning the game 3-0 with Mabhudi Khenyeza and Onismor Bhasera giving Chiefs the advantage in regular time, before Shaun Bartlett scored in injury time on the day he was celebrating his 35th birthday.
