Amakhosi will be looking at retaining the Macufe Cup when they take on Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday, 14 October 2012. The Cup is part of the 15th Edition of the Mangaung African Cultural Festival. Kaizer Chiefs has played in five of the nine Macufe Cup games winning on four occasions in 2004, 2005, 2009 and 2011. Bloemfontein Celtics won the Cup in 2008 in the absence of Amakhosi while in 2010 they beat Amakhosi 5-4 on penalties.



Kaizer Chiefs will be without eight of their regular players that are engaged in National duty six with Bafana Bafana and two with Zimbabwe. The Kaizer Chiefs players on National assignments are Siphiwe Tshabalala, Eric Mathoho, Bernard Parker, George Lebese, Lucky Khune and Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Lincoln Svasiya and Kingston Nkhatha. In the absence of the later the Technical Team will use this opportunity to give other players like the recently signed Tsepo Masilela, Matthew Rusike, Brilliant Khuzwayo and other development player some game time to test their readiness for upcoming PSL league and cup fixtures.



The game which always draws over 35000 supporters when the two teams participate will be a sequel to 0-0 stalemate that the two teams played in a league encounter last weekend at the packed Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in PE. Kaizer Chiefs go into this friendly game occupying the first spot in the PSL League log standing without a loss after seven games played and Bloemfontein Celtic are on position eight after beating Orlando Pirates and stealing a point from Amakhosi in their last two league games.



With so much interest in the game fans are requested to buy their tickets at the Shoprite/Checkers and Computicket and must arrive at the stadium as early as possible to avoid disappointment and missing out of the entertainment that the organisers have promised will be of top drawer.



Supporters are urged to enjoy the game of football and not behave in a way that is against the spirit of Love and Peace.



The game kick-off is at 15:00 at the Free State Stadium and the gates will be opened from 11:00.
