The mother of all shows is brewing to take place at Loftus Versfeld on Sunday, 27th October. Dialectically ‘it is going to be lit’, when Kaizer Chiefs visit Mamelodi Sundowns in the Absa Premiership encounter scheduled to kick off at 15:30.
A full capacity crowd is expected as per norm every time these nemesis lock horns. Road traffic management will have their work cut out as all roads will be leading in one direction towards Arcadia suburb of the Capital City, Pretoria. The 51000-seater stadium will resemble a sea of yellow of Sundowns and Gold & Black royalty colours of Amakhosi.
The log positions also point in the direction of a humdinger waiting to happen. Two points separate the two, with Amakhosi topping the log with 19 points with 8 matches played. Masandawana are hot on their heels with 17 points from 7 matches played.
Last season Chiefs took away a point from Loftus – with Ramahlwe Mphahlele striking in the 8th minute and Ricardo Nascimento equalised via a 24th minute spot kick. The match took place on 4 August 2018.
In the return leg at FNB Stadium on 5th January, Anthony Laffor shocked Chiefs with a 3rd minute strike but Willard Katsande answered by leveling matters in the 16th minute. A goalie howler let to Lebohang Maboe’s walking the ball in the empty net to cause a 2-1 upset at home for Chiefs.
To avoid congestion and delays, supporters are urged to arrive early at the stadium.
