Development Coach, Arthur Zwane told kaizerchiefs.com that it was his priority to balance between winning and developing ahead of the Engen Knockout Challenge 2013 edition to be played in Johannesburg this coming weekend.

The young Chiefs have been hard at work at Nike Centre, Soweto in preparation for the tournament to be played from Friday, 28 June to Sunday, 30 June 2013 at Marks Park.

“Preparations have been going quite well and the players are excited with the opportunity to showcase their talent. We will be using the same team that is campaigning in the SAFA Soweto U17 league where the boys have done really well this season.

“It is only four players that were around the last time we participated in the same tournament last year so this experience will be vital for the most of the players who will be campaigning for the first time,” said Coach, Arthur Zwane who has been entrusted with the duty to guide the U-17 team.

“It is important that the boys gain experience and I think with the calibre of teams participating in the tournament they will, and if we win - it will be bonus.

“The teams participating in the tournament come with different physical attributes and of course tactics and we will have to learn to adapt and continue with what we have been doing at SAFA Soweto.

“I would like to see the players excelling as individuals but also be able to play as a collective.

“Players should be able to enjoy themselves and play good football, it is important for me and for the Club as well. It is when you enjoy your football and play well that results come and we will try to do this again in the upcoming tournament.

“At Kaizer Chiefs though we also have to develop players with a winning mentality as the culture here is to win, our responsibility as coaches at this level is to balance inculcating winning mentality and development of players,” added Zwane.
