The tournament, previously known as the Bayhill Tournament, will see the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns (defending champions), SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows (development sides) renewing their acquaintances in what is the most anticipated youth tournament in the country.
“This is for us a final leg for the boys in the Under-19 team to lift their hands and convince the first team’s technical team of their readiness. Also it will test our elite HPC programme results and reveal areas of improvement for all the players participating in the tournament.”
“More importantly, it is a major preparation for three international tournaments in Switzerland, Holland and Germany from May 9 to 24, in which the Under-19 team will play against teams like Bayern Munich, AZ Alkmaar, Borussia Dortmund, Fernebache and Boca Juniors, who played against our Under-17 team last year in the Gauteng Future Champions Cup,” added Steenbok.
