Kaizer Chiefs’ Under-17s will start their Future Champions Gauteng International Tournament on Monday, 14 March, with a match against Brazil’s Atlético Mineiro. This fixture will take place at the Nike Centre, Pimville, and will kick-off at 16:00 on Field 1.
Amakhosi were drawn in Group A with Orlando Pirates and the Brazilian side. However, they will also play one game against a team of another group, which will be Mexico’s Club Tijuana.
Chiefs’ Under-17s are coached by Arthur Zwane. The team has several great talents, including striker Siyabonga Hlengwe, winger Nathi Nzama and defensive midfielder Wiseman Meyiwa, who represented South Africa last year at the Under-17 World Cup in Chile.
The Amakhosi youngsters face Mexico’s Club Tijuana on Tuesday, 15 March (Field 1, kick-off is at 14:30), followed by a game on Wednesday, 16 March against Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates (Field 1, kick-off is at 16:00).
The teams are off on Thursday, which is followed by the play-offs and the final games on respectively Friday and Saturday.
