Kaizer Chiefs’ new signing Kgotso Moleko has revealed to kaizerchiefs.com that he turned down options in Europe to sign a three-year-deal with the Glamour Boys.
The 22-year-old impressed last season on the rightback position while turning out for Bloemfontein Celtic and is determined to carry on where he left off at Celtic this season.
“I had two options overseas on but when an opportunity to join Chiefs availed itself I could not turn it down. I want to establish myself at Chiefs before I can think of furthering my career in Europe,” said the Rocklands born defender with supreme confidence.
“We all know that Kaizer Chiefs is an ambitious Club and one can see with the type of players that the team signed this season. The fans are expecting trophies following a season where the team did not win a cup. I have not won a trophy yet in my career and I see joining Chiefs as an opportunity for me to win things.
“It is of course not about me but the team. I am going to learn as much as I can from the senior players but it is also my intention to write my name in the history books of this Club. This calls for hard work and I have no doubt that if I keep my feet on the ground and listen to those who were there before me I will achieve my goals in life.
This young defender also known by the name Edgar is also delighted that Erick ‘Tower’ Mathoho has joined the Club; “I am happy to have Tower around. We have always been close and he is someone I can count on for guidance on and off the pitch.
My family is a football family and they are over the moon that I joined Chiefs. I know that I cannot disappoint them including the Management that gave me an opportunity to don the famous gold and black jersey,” added Moleko.
