Football Manager, Bobby Motaung has revealed to kaizerchiefs.com that the Amakhosi did not receive an invitation from SAFA or PSL to participate in the next edition of Confederations Cup, a slot the Club got after finishing third in the Absa Premiership last season.

The Glamour Boys were among the first clubs to participate in the CAF competitions back in 1993 after they had won the league the previous season.

“We were privileged as the Club to participate in the competition in the past and winning the Mandela Cup back in 2001 will remain as one of the highlights of the Club in almost 40 years,” said Motaung.

“SAFA or the Premier Soccer League were supposed to have notified us officially to participate in the tournament and that did not happen. Secondly, the League (PSL) did not provide us the grant to cover the costs of participating in the competition as they have given to the other three teams, SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows,” revealed Bobby.

“The focus now for us is to do well in the league and the two cups, Telkom Knockout and Nedbank Cup. We will consider strongly participating in the Champions League in 2011,” he concluded.
