As the challenge for the league title hots up with only four matches remaining, Kaizer Chiefs welcome Golden Arrows into their fortress, otherwise known as FNB Stadium, on Saturday, 6 May, for their penultimate home fixture of the 2016/17 season.
Amakhosi beat Golden Arrows 2-0 in the corresponding fixture back in December at the Moses Mabhida stadium, with goals from Bernard Parker and Siphiwe Tshabalala sealing the win for the Glamour Boys.
Now, with no margin for error in the race for the championship, Chiefs will have to repeat the performance in order to remain in the race for glory.
“We’ve been playing well but lack of concentration has led to us conceding silly goals and dropping crucial points. As defenders, we need to do much more to ensure that we win matches because trophies are ultimately won through solid defence,” said Tsepo Masilela during the Media Open Day, hosted by the Club at the Kaizer Chiefs Village.
“We have been training hard and strategising for the game against Arrows. We need to ensure that we bag all the points and remain in contention for league honours,” added striker Parker. “Winning matches is a team effort and we need all departments to give their best so that the supporters can go home with smiles on their faces.”
Amakhosi currently occupy fourth position on the log while Abafana Bes’thende are lying ninth, each with four matches remaining in this season’s campaign.
The Glamour Boys remain unbeaten at home this season and will be looking to keep that record clean by adding the scalp of Arrows to the list of victories.
