Chiefs will be back in Polokwane a week after playing Sekhukhune United at Peter Mokaba Stadium last Sunday. This time, though, Amakhosi will be the home side when they welcome Swallows FC for a DStv Premiership Soweto Derby as a prelude to the big Nedbank Cup Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates next Saturday.

Both Chiefs and Swallows were victorious in their league matches on Freedom Day, beating Chippa United and Maritzburg United, respectively. Both Soweto teams scored 1-0 wins to claim all three points against the Chilli Boys and the Team of Choice.

The three points helped ease Swallows’ relegation worries but they still need more points to secure their Premiership status for next season. Chiefs’ victory, on the other hand, boosted their chances of clinching a CAF competition but, they too, will need more points in their remaining three league fixtures to have a chance of fulfilling that ambition.

With so much to play for, and both teams needing all the points, the encounter promises to be a thriller.

Chiefs were 2-1 winners when they beat Swallows in the first round of the league in October at the Dube Birds’ Dobsonville Stadium headquarters.

Coach Arthur Zwane has cautioned against focusing on next week’s Soweto Derby as he called on the players to fully focus on the game that takes place on Monday against the Birds.

No new injuries or recoveries have been reported, meaning Chiefs will still be without Keagan Dolly, who picked up an injury in Polokwane last week.

Tickets for this crucial DStv Premiership match between the Glamour Boys and The Birds are on sale at www.computicket.co.za, online and in store, Shoprite and Checkers Supermarkets at R60 per ticket. Kick-off for the match is 15:00 on Workers' Day, 1 May at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
