kaizerchiefs.com took time to look at the activities in the Youth Development side of the Club during the upcoming Youth Day long weekend in South Africa. It was not a surprise to find the hype of activity as it is the culture of the Club to contribute to the development of the youth in the country. We found the offices of the Development abuzz with activity for the preparation of what is going to be a busy weekend.

First we looked at the SAB League Johannesburg:

Kaizer Chiefs Development is heading for a playoff decider this weekend when they visit Godisanang. The outcome of the game will have a bearing on which team from the SAB League Johannesburg will go to the playoffs for promotion to ABC Motsepe League next season. The much awaited clash will be played at 3-Square Stadium in Alexandra, on Saturday, 14 June 2014. Kick-off is at 15:00.

kaizerchiefs.com caught up with Coach Donald Khuse who expressed confidence ahead of the deciding clash,

“We are looking forward to the game. We are ready and confident that we will win and march on to the playoffs. The boys have worked hard the entire season and we can’t fall on the last hurdle,” said Khuse.

The next stop was the U19 side coached by the Development coach Arthur Zwane,

The U19 are currently riding the crest of the wave in the SAFA U19 Soweto League. The U19 are enjoying an unassailable lead in the log. The U19s will be taking on White City Super at Jabavu Stadium at 15:00 on Saturday. Chiefs Development is also dictating terms in the SAFA U17 Soweto League where they are leading the log comfortably.

And we looked at involvement of the Club on Youth Day

The U19 will be part of the June 16 Commemorations when they travel to Newcastle to play Amajuba Municipality Squad in Siyabonga Nkosi Youth Festival. The game will be played at Amajuba College Stadium, in Madadeni at 12:00. The Tournament is organised by the First Team midfielder Siyabonga Nkosi as his part of ploughing back programme to his hometown.

16 June is a public holiday, Youth Day, in South Africa, in remembrance of the events of 1976 where the high school students in Soweto protested against the Afrikaans Medium Decree of 1974, which forced all black schools to use Afrikaans and English in a 50–50 mix as languages of instruction.
